My Ped

This is my go-ped.  Its one of my most prized possesions.  I bought it used and have not had it long but was amazed when I first rode it.  It looks like a stock ped but thers more to it than meets the eye.

This is how it looked when i bought it.

When I raced Dr64 it looked like this.  With a chrome jet-pro pipe and a K&N filter:

blackped8.jpg (48588 bytes)   blackped7.jpg (49078 bytes)    blackped6.jpg (48174 bytes)    blackped5.jpg (53563 bytes)    blackped4.jpg (51550 bytes)

blackped3.jpg (53483 bytes)   blackped2.jpg (49476 bytes)    blackped11.jpg (47678 bytes)    blackped10.jpg (47796 bytes)    blackped1.jpg (52524 bytes)

blackped.jpg (51126 bytes)   blackped9.jpg (45478 bytes)

It wasn't as good looking as Dr64's but it was just about the same top speed.   He couldn't have been more than 2mph faster than me when I had this jet-pro pipe on it.

06 / 09 / 99 - I have now bought an Engine Trix pipe on it and raced Dr64 again.  This pipe actually had about 1 mph slower top end than the jet-pro pipe if that much, but I'm running the carb richer also to have longer engine life.  But this pipe takes off like a rocket and I'm dead equal when I race him except when i hit my top end and then he goes about 2 mph faster I'd say.  But if you want to run a bigger spindle this pipe can definitely pull it.  Here are the pics of my ped now:

Mvc-003f.jpg (71667 bytes) <-- you can even see Dr64's reflection in the pipe

Its a 98' Sport goped with the G23 new style motor and has:

- black paintjob
- PS&WS Superstock Engine Mod package
- special stage 2 porting
- Engine Trix Pipe
- MRI .675 long drive billet spindle with 3rd bearing support
- black MRI cable clamp
- A cable crimp with a die on it, looks cool
- the Go-ped logo on the deck has been scraped off and the deck has been refinished

It revved 16,690 RPMs when i rode it with a tach on it, but it had been raining and I went full speed but my spindle and tire had picked up a little water so i would guess it revs in the 15,000s when its dry.

Doesn't seem like a lot of mods, but it FLIES, especially now that I have the pipe!

If your thinking about having your goped powdercoated go with black.   It looks the best and goes with any color billet parts.

Planned modifications:

- Engine Trix pipe (already have it now)
- Silver or black MRI pro-slot deck
- Silver Engine Trix Air duct
- Maybe a .750 spindle

These plans may not seem like a lot, but I don't have a whole lot of money to throw around and this is all the ped really needs.

FAQ Questions about the Pacific Sand & Water Sports Super-Stock Engine Mod Package

Q: "Why not just buy a pipe Its only a few bucks more?"
A:  Pipes add alot of noise, they don't do much with a stock carb & stock porting, the handle pole doesn't fold and latch, they vibrate loose and burn gaskets, and most importantly, there is not a pipe in the world that can out perform, out rev, or out speed a PSWS Super-Stock mod.  Even if the pipe costs $50.00 more! (This statement is very true by the way)

Q:"What if I buy a Big HP Carb instead?"
A:  A complete carb kit will cost just under a PSWS Super-Stock Engine Mod package, and you will not even notice a difference on a stock motor.  The Big carb will not add any peak r.p.m., which means no speed increase what so ever.  So that means you spent over $100.00 to get no speed increase.

Q:  "Why should I use the stock airbox?"
A:  The stock airbox also acts as an intake muffler (which means it is much quieter than an aftermarket filter) and the stock box can take alot more abuse than aftermarket filters. The stock airboxes are easy to clean and why get rid of the choke?

Q:  "Should I drill holes in the filter lid?"
A:  If drilling holes is all that it takes to go fast, then we would all be really fast!  Do Not drill the lid.  It just makes more noise, and looks terrible.

Q:  "How much faster will it be?"
A:  The Super-Stock package is designed to maximize both acceleration and top speed.  We recommend small spindles because you will feel the added acceleration more than added top speed.  We think poppin' wheelies is more fun than holding it wide open for a block.  But if you are drag racing your friends, and you want maximum top speed, just use a taller spindle, average rider of 130lbs will be able to get 10(+)mph increase over stock with a large spindle easily.

Q:  "How loud is it?"
A:  With the stock airbox and the muffler connected to the frame you will hardly notice a difference.  Without the silicone hose connecting the muffler to the frame you will hear a little more than before.

Q:  "How does it start compared to stock?"
A:  You will notice the pullstart is harder to pull due to the added compression.  But, the engine will start or fire-up just as easily as it did stock.

Q:  "Do I have to send the whole ped or just the motor?"
A:  It is easier for us to have to whole ped so we can set it up for you, but you can save yourself money in shipping costs if you send the motor only.  You will get the same high quality either way.  The motor will be shipped back to you so that all you have to do is bolt it on and go.

Q:  "What will the Super-Stock do if I add a pipe?"
A:  PSWS Super-Stocks love pipes!  Now when you add a pipe you will see an improvement.  The combination of modifications included with the Super-Stock package allow the tuned pipe to do its job.  You will feel a pronounced "Hit" or "Powerband" with a pipe on your Super-Stock.

Q:  "Did Pacific Sand & Water Sports invent the Super-Stock?"
A:  YES, The PSWS Super-Stock Engine Mod package was developed by Pacific Sand & Water Sports, and uses unique modifications to the engine.  They have done the research for the correct porting specs, and other mods done to make the Super-Stock work.  "We are the innovators of the Super-Stock not the Duplicators." If you don't purchase your Super-Stock from us or one of our authorized resellers then who knows what you will get!

Let me just add that the answers to this FAQ are by Matt from PS&WS and are completely true and unbiased.  My black ped is faster than any ped with any pipe, HP carb and air filter.  That setup is ok but will cost you about $100 more than a superstock WITH the stage 2 porting.  The superstock with stage 2 porting will easily go 5mph faster than that setup, if not more.  Even the normal superstock should go at least 2-3mph faster.  By the way, I mounted my friend's chrome jet-pro pipe on my black ped and it just flew.  With a pipe added to a superstock you will defintely be amazed.  Adds more top end than without a superstock and when the pipe hits you get thrusted forward.  Its really cool.
